Plant Experience
Detail
Bantel's Sensation snake plant is a patented variety that shows off exceptional thin, dark green leaves elegantly variegated with cream and white stripes. It grows 36 inches tall and is as easy to grow as other snake plant varieties.
Rare and unusual, ‘Bantel’s Sensation’ has distinctive white vertical striping in the leaves and is sometimes called White Sansevieria. The 1-2” wide leaves are narrower than most other sansevierias and in a container ‘Bantel’s Sensation’ grows 36” tall. Sweetly fragrant white flowers bloom during the long days of summer or when the plant is under stress. Native to Africa, sansevierias need very little water and are extremely drought tolerant with virtually no insect pests. This showy plant makes an excellent houseplant since it filters indoor toxins from the air and is an indestructible houseplant.
Light
Full or partial sun; a southern, eastern, or western exposure. Will grow faster when grown under some direct sunlight.
Temperature
Maintain indoor temperatures above 55° although they will tolerate temperatures down to freezing.
Humidity
Preferably 50% or higher; however, they will tolerate lower levels with no harm.
Watering
Water thoroughly, until some water trickles from the bottom of the pot, and then allow to dry down before watering well again. Will rot if grown too wet. It is important to allow plants to dry out between waterings.
Fertilizer
Low fertilizer requirement; use a balanced low-level fertilizer of 15-15-15 or lower twice each growing season (from May 1st to Sept 1st)
Pruning
None required.
Insects and Disease
Not bothered by any insects or diseases.
Comments
The Sansevieria is a very vigorous plant that grows from the bottom up as opposed to growing from the tip. The tips of the plants will often brown but this does not stop growth. It is a suckering plant that will quickly send out pups (small new leaves) from the base of the plants. It’s grown in peat. It tolerates a wide variety of environmental conditions, from low light levels to extreme dryness.
